Sayonara Privacy Policy

Sayonara (the "extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you find the cancellation, account-deletion, contact and account-settings pages of the site you are viewing. This policy explains what information the extension handles and how it is used. Sayonara never clicks cancel, delete or submit buttons for you.
1. What is never sent
- The text you type into the "What do you want to do?" box stays on your computer. It is never sent anywhere.
- Page content, form input, passwords, cookies and browsing history are never sent.
- We do not ask you to register or give a name, email address or phone number.
2. What is sent to our server
When the extension looks for or rates candidate pages, it sends the following to its server (run on Cloudflare):
- The domain of the site you are viewing (for example, example.com).
- The text and URL of links on the page. Before sending, everything after "?" and "#" is removed from each URL, and long numbers, IDs, tokens and email-like parts of the URL path are masked. If a link's text contains something personal, such as a name, it may be sent as it is.
- Your ratings of candidates (○ / ×) and the URLs of pages found by deep search.
- A random number generated when you install the extension (the "install ID"). It is not linked to anything that identifies you.
The server does not store your IP address. To prevent abuse, only the first part of the IP address is turned, using a secret value, into a short one-way code, which is used only to count daily usage and to count each rating once per network.
3. AI classification (third-party service)
To decide whether a link is about cancelling, closing an account, contacting support or managing account settings, the domain and the link texts and masked URLs described in section 2 are sent to the "Jev" classification service of TypeSafe, Inc. The install ID and your IP address are not sent to Jev. TypeSafe is a company in the United States, so this data is transferred to the United States. Under our agreement with TypeSafe, the data is handled only to provide the classification and to monitor abuse, and it is kept according to TypeSafe's terms.
4. How information is used and how long it is kept
- Ratings (○ / ×) and the URLs of pages found are kept for as long as the service runs, so that they can be shown to other users as candidates for the same site. Who rated is not shown.
- If you tell us a correct page through the contact form (Google Forms), the service name and page URL you give are reviewed by the operator and then shown to other users as an unconfirmed candidate. It is treated as confirmed only after other users' ratings accumulate. Your email address, if you give one, is used only to reply to you and is not stored with the candidate.
- Daily usage counters are deleted automatically within two days.
- We do not sell information, use it for advertising, or pass it to analytics tools. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
5. What is stored on your computer
- The install ID is kept in Chrome's extension storage. It is removed when you uninstall the extension.
- Progress of a deep search, candidates waiting for your answer, and the last deep-search result for each tab are kept in temporary storage that Chrome clears when it closes.
6. Permissions
- activeTab and scripting: used only when you click the toolbar button, to read the links of the current page.
- storage: used for the items in section 5.
- Site access (asked for per site): used to show the ○ / × banner on the page you open from a candidate, and for "search deeper", which opens pages of the same site in a background tab, one after another. We ask per site, and the basic features work without it. Deep search only opens and reads pages; it never presses buttons or submits forms.
7. Legal basis, your rights and international transfers
- If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: we process the data above to provide the extension you asked for and to keep the service safe and working (our legitimate interests). Because we hold no account, name or email linked to the install ID, we generally cannot tie stored data to a specific person. You still have the right to ask us what we hold, to have a stored candidate (a page URL) removed, and to object to processing; write to us at the address below and tell us the site and page involved, and we will review and act on it. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
- If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law: you may ask us to delete data we hold about a page or candidate in the same way. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not discriminate against anyone for asking.
- Data is processed on Cloudflare's network and, for classification, by TypeSafe in the United States (see section 3).
- The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
